How to be Present (Day in the Life of a Chaplain)
It’s hard to stay present in the moment. Often our thoughts aren’t aligned with what we are doing. Many of us have bought into the myth of multi-tasking, thinking we can do more than one thing at the same time. Staying truly present in the moment requires discipline and energy. As a Chaplain, I work to stay present in the middle of difficult circumstances all the time.
On this “Day in the Life of a Chaplain” video, I talk about several moments I encountered on an on-call shift where I worked to stay present with patients, families, and staff during a code event, a comfort care consult, a consult for a chaplain with a guitar, and two trauma pages.
My name is Bobby Fleck, and I am a Chaplain Resident. Join with me on an on-call shift at a Level One Regional Trauma Center to see what I encounter throughout the 24 hours that I am on-call as the Chaplain.
